Known as the "Double Gateway to the Rockies", Lyons, Colorado is a charming town perfectly located next to the N. Saint Vrain River. Lyons is known for actively preserving its history. Its amazing vintage buildings and homes are proof positive of their efforts...and the Rocky Mountains is its back yard.
Summers in Lyons are art-filled, with the opening of the Lyons Redstone Museum. Prestigious artwork is often placed throughout the town. In continuation to its artful summers, the town hosts two annual music festivals where the locals and visitors can enjoy bluegrass and folk music. Planet Bluegrass is a world-class venue in the summer and other concerts are held throughout the year. Without a doubt, Lyons is definitely the most creative town in the Rockies.
Lyons' main street offers several antique stores (one is in what was the original bank from the "old days"..constructed of the famous Lyons red rock). Down town also offers raw or cooked sushi and tasty vegitarian dishes at Matsuri restuarant. A great breakfast nook call The Barking Dog offers fresh baked goodies from their ovens, breakfast, lunch, delicious coffee drinks and provides wireless internet.
The Stone Cup is another local favorite coffee shop. Oscar Blues is a Cajun brew & blues pub and brings some famous singers to Lyons...Nora Jones once sang there. City Chicks Food and Flicks is a unique New York Italian Deli & Restaurant that serves gourmet box lunches and homemade dinners...eat in house or takeout. They have a 65 inch TV screen on the patio. Andreas Homestead Cafe brings the freshest homemade baked goods, soups, salads, and entrees to Lyons. It has the ambience of a Bavarian hunting lodge and has served breakfast, brunch, lunch and dinner for over 31 years. Their bar features German beers on tap.
At the edge of the RockyMountains' foothills, Lyons is only twenty miles from the Continental Divide, Rocky Mountain National Park and Estes Park, Colorado. It is within one hour of Denver International Airport and the city of Denver with its four professional sports teams. So it is close to shopping of all kinds. The folks in Lyons enjoy plenty of camping, hunting, hiking, mountain biking, fly fishing, and whitewater kayaking. With stars shining bright at night and fireworks in the winter, having a home in Lyons is like having a small piece of paradise. And there are several Lyons homes for sale!!
