About Allenspark

Allenspark, established in 1918, is at an elevation of 8521 feet. It situates about 16 miles to the south of Estes Park along scenic Highway 7 (aka Peak to Peak Highway). Allenspark is close to Estes Park Colorado. This small mountain community grew from an unsuccessful mining town, but is just a quiet residential community now. Back in the early 20th century, Johny Mack promoted Allenspark as a health community because of the clean air at altitude and the alpine spring water. Allenspark's pure water is as pure as it gets...coming from the melting snow of the continental divide. It still looks like the 1940s in Allenspark. No longer a mining community, Allenspark shows the way to some of Colorado's most famous and beautiful areas. Chief among these is the craggy, 14,255-foot Longs Peak, as well as Rocky Mountain National Park, accessed through the Wild Basin entrance, just a few miles north of Allenspark. This small community is host to alpine vistas, glacial basins, great fishing in mountain creeks and rivers and plenty of horse riding trails. Local liverys take you on horse back riding trails in Rocky Mountain National Park that wind through the Park to the south of Longs Peak. Horse back riding in Rocky Mountain National Park is unique. At 8500 feet of elevation, riders are treated to seldom seen views of the south and west side of the high peaks of Longs and Meeker. Allenspark is at the National Park's southeast corner, along 55 miles of Peak to Peak Highway's curves and scenery .
Allenspark has a post office, 3 restaurants, the historic Allenspark Lodge and stables for renting horses. The Fawn Brook Inn is a gourmet restuarant that has been featured in gourmet magazine and provides a memorable dining experience. Meadow Mountian Cafe is open most of the time and offers a great breakfast and lunch. This alpine community is surrounded by Rocky Mountain National Park and Roosevelt National Forest...a very quiet and unpretentious mountain village , one of few that is surrounding Estes Park Colorado.
